I’m in search of some help, I have a 2004 f-450 6.0 powerstroke. Every time that it is put into reverse it shuts off and also shuts off when the headlight switch is turned on it shuts off emediately. In both situations the truck dies instantly. So far we have put new batteries and an alternator on it.

Possible ignition switch. My Bronco would die as soon as you moved the shift lever to R or D like you just turned the key. New switch fixed that problem. Can’t offer anything on the headlight issue. Perhaps a short in a harness somewhere. Have you replaced the headlight switch?

Good question. I get in my 1980 troubleshooting mode sometimes. It’s a little less sophisticated than what we can do with our trucks.
