You take things so personally. Get some skin, ur too thin. Get off attacking people personally. Ideas are stupid sometimes, say so, its's ok. I do and I will. Hostility toward people is pathetic and pathological. Look at yourself through someone else's eyes instead.
I ain't nothin' special. Never said I was. These days I do good to keep cows fat and inside fences.
If you don't know people dog cuss you for your lifted headlights in their eyes, outta touch. Pull up to the loading dock and get dog cussed by people heaving stuff up on the lifted bed? How many round bales can you pull with that thing anyway? 90mph dodging in and out of passenger cars full of mommas and kids? Bumpers lifted to the height of the windows in passenger cars so you can smash momma's and children's faces? If you look in the mirror and see a big "S" on your chest you might think it means Superman or Special but other people might see Stupid.
I admire transmission rebuilds and turbos and all kind of cool stuff but I'm real glad I'm not misguided enough to spend my time and money that way anymore.
I play with toys too. I just dragged home a cheap boat someone took apart. I'll put it back together and go for a ride. Got a grain drill and got it working. Planted winter grass. I still have way too many old dirt bikes. Some of them are older than you are, older than me too. We are all just a bunch of fools. Get over yourself.
I don't even remember the last time I drove 90mph but I'm sure it was on a racetrack.
Isn't this cool? Cows like it.

High headlights, high bed? Are you kidding? The headlights on my truck aren't any higher than most of the trucks on the road. If headlight height and cars of "mommas" and children concern you, bitch about big trucks/dump trucks on the road. My truck is going on 25yrs old w/60k miles on it,it spends most of it's time in the garage, not endangering anyone on the road. How is it that you know how I drive my truck anyway? What you dont seem to understand is my truck is just that, mine, not yours, and it only needs to fit MY needs. Whatever they are.
You expect to call someone's plan or idea stupid - how is that not a personal attack? And when they comment back, they have thin skin. Really?
Stupid ideas? How about stupid opinions and keeping them to yourself?

feel bad for the OP... this thread got crapped on...
As for the conversion - like noted above buy a donor truck. Then park them side by side, jack them up, and start unbolting. Stay organized and take pictures along the way to use as a reference.
Others have done it. You can to. Good luck!
((and after the conversion is done, keep the spares for parts, or sell/scrap them to recoup your investment.))

There's nothing wrong with making a fun toy. You should be out of debt and living in the surplus first imo.Have your retirement account fully funded (or at least know you will before years end) before you go spending.
With the F150 it's all bolt on and it will be just like the 4wd's that Ford built when your done.In this case here, you'll want the D60 since your lifting and going with big tires and your going to need to re-gear.All the important stuff's been stated so hey,if someone wanna voice they don't think it's worth it,it's probably not gunna hurt either.Wouldn't be worth it to me either. The lift and re-gear that is.That D60 and gearing is thousands more! For just a 4wd and stock tires, you should be able to source a 4wd parts truck for the price of just the D60 axle lol and bolt in your parts.Have yourself a nice 4wd pickup and put some 31's on it and call it good for pennies on the dollar compared.Invest the remaining 3k into your retirement account and if it's already maxed out for the year then buy a S&P 500 index fund let 'er grow for tomorrow.
We all know what opinions are like though and we all have one lol.
A couple things that you might find on your donor that I would change though;
A t-case with manual shift lever. Many of the f-150's come with electronic.
Manual hub conversion from the auto lockers if the axle in the donor hasn't been converted yet.
Just remember if your one of the few living debt free in America these days, you want to try and stay there! That freedom is a blessing and privilege many haven't bothered to try keeping.Sometimes going with less toy than what we might like is ok too.
Hey,I wouldn't mind building a boss 9 t-bird but it ain't gunna happen. (well.........perhaps not in my working years,but.........)

All people are created equal, all ideas are not. Thanks for asking.
Mall Crawlers
Many, many people see modified trucks and they immediately think immature guy. Probably living in momma's basement and she's paying for the truck and the gas. Can't keep a relationship or hold down a job. They always think the guy in the truck is the bad guy.
Can't blame them. You gotta admit that there are a lot of lifted trucks with big tires that never get dirty or regeared. Illegal headlights, Loud exhaust, tailgating and acting out. Way too many of them are douchebags. The downfall of Western Civilization - the douchebag sitting at red lights and sprinting to the next one.
No vehicle inspections here. A lot of you would not believe some of the crap rolling down the road.
This is where the thread got crapped. This has nothing to do with trucks or ideas. This is purely a personal attack. Not the first time either. Next time, more of the same. Until then.
This forum probably has an ignore feature - use it.

Oh one more wrong assumption,I'm 55yrs old been married for 30yrs with 2 adult children.
Once again OP sorry for the derailment, but I can't help myself when it comes to calling out HS.
FWIW, the blue Explorer in the last pic belongs to my son. Converted with a 77 Bronco D44. Just another example of a useless conversion.

Mine's not a toy, it goes to get other toys. This was a 1700 mile round trip to pick up my '75 Cougar.
Converting to 4x4 was not enough for me. This truck, bought new by my BIL, was originally 300 Six/E4OD, 2WD, manual locks and windows, bench seat. Now it's 460/ZF5, 4x4, power locks and windows and captain's chairs.
Here's what it looked like when I got it:
Just drop it, HS. These type conversions are done all the time and you have no idea whether they are hack jobs or not. If mine went so poorly, I sure would not have done it again on my son's truck this past summer:
