e250 Vacuum issue and vacuum canister replacment

So a while back my vacuum pump froze up and died. Prior to that I had no vacuum issues. I replaced the pump, but it never seemed quite right. When it was really cold out my brake light would come on at idle and my peddle would be hard. Since everything was fine before I thought it might be the old hose coming off the vacuum pump had a tear or wasn't sealing correctly. Yesterday I went ahead and replaced the hose and put clamps on each end. I am still having the vacuum issue. I have ordered another replacement pump to install and am thinking that maybe the new one was bad/weak out of the box. While I am at it I was thinking of maybe replacing the vacuum reserve canister (looks like a coffee can) that is located in the passenger side fender next to the battery. A quick search isn't bringing up a stock replacement. I found some universal replacements, but I was wondering what everyone else is running?
