Currently I would advise against this. I pulled mine apart to paint, just got is split in half, no further disassembly. Didn't even get it cleaned. Situation changed and I'm no longer painting, truck has to go together right now. Paint later I hope. I just spent an hour trying to hold down the brushes long enough to get mine back together. They way they are setup is a pain, bottom one is a brush and spring not together as an assembly so it's about 5x harder to get back in. I'd recommend you clean it good and spend an hour or four carefully masking off the inside and the contacts, then paint. Disassembly really isn't worth it. I'd do it again, but I'm a crazy person. Don't do it. DO as I SAY not as I Intend lol
