Bed Assembly - Welded 1 Piece vs individual panels?
I've seen it done both ways, I would like to know who has done what, and why?
Right now my preference is individual pieces, unless you guys can convince me otherwise. It seems that if a minor accident were to occur, it would be much easier to unbolt pieces, and paint them individually versus doing the entire bed. Also, paintin each panel eliminates unpainted seams which tend to rust down the road.
Give me your .02 cents!

When I get to my bed, I will prime and paint the Jams.
I may have to weld some areas (the bed floor will have to be raised 2-3 inches for clearance) then bolt the rest together.
Then final paint will come with the fenders removed and then final assembly. Not sure who's going to do the painting or where it will be done.

I voted earlier for weld together and paint.
You asked for opinions and opinions are like butt holes, everyone has one.
The original beds were buck rivited together the front panel to the sides and painted together. My 56 bigwindow that was painted in 93 was plug welded and finished smooth. I didn't have a way to duplicate the buck rivets. Looking at many trucks over the years I really didn't like the attention "bolts" brought to this area of the bed. Also how you paint apart and bolt together and keep from chipping the paint? Would you use stainless bolts? That's like putting a Neon sign there that says "look at me".!!!!!
For me it was the easiest and cleanest way to do the bed front panel.
Good luck
