I was surprised at how "same" the frames were, even thickness was same as I recall, rear springs same too. His was a 4 spd with NP205 and 400.
I made that mistake too. At one time I thought that I could use the frame horns on my '77 F-250 to repair the frame on my '76 F-150. I even hot wrenched the frame horns off of the F-250. That's when I discovered the difference in thickness between these two frames. They just didn't match up and I was unable to use them.

CAVEAT: My '77 F-250 was a camper special sCab with long bed (155" wheelbase) so may have had a beefier frame than "regular" F-250s. Anyone know?

Maybe so? My BIL's was a 8ft bed, reg cab, as is mine … don't know more.

He sold it or near give it to a neighbor after it failed inspection for frame rot behind gas tank. It's probably got a tree growing through it on a pig farm on outskirts of Muscadine, Alabama now.
