1997 F350 Pricing Question

Hello all, I hope it’s okay to post this here. I’m not trying to post a for sale ad, I just have a question as to my truck’s worth. I am going to be selling it soon and have had several local guys want to buy it but honestly can’t come up with a price to start at. Thank you very much for any help you can give me on this!

The bad: The body is a little rough. No rust through the body, or in the wheel well or the cab corners. The frame is clear from rust also. The paint and clear coat is shot. It needs a new tailgate from previous owner hitting a 5th wheel camper with it!

The good: New 460 Engine with only 12k miles on it. New HD Transmission with only 10k miles on it. All front steering components and lock rings replaced. Front and rear Ranch Hand Bumpers. The seats still look brand new and I have always had covers on them. The inside in general is pretty clean.

I have no idea where to start for pricing. I know obviously I won’t get my all my money back and I know it’s not a diesel which some people prefer. But it’s got over 15k in parts over the two years I have had it and all done by the best shop around.

Thank you for any feedback and it would be greatly appreciated. I hope guys are staying safe.

I'd say 7-8 thousand.

Couple years ago I paid 4500 for a regular cab long bed f350 4x4 with a 351 and c6. 150k in the clock. Body and paint in good to fair condition. New tires and wheels. It had some issues the seller didnt disclose, and I'm now swapping out a broken c6 (leaking when I bought it)

That's about average in my area. Yours gets a bump for the 2 extra doors, bumpers, and newer engine and trans

Thank you very much for the information and the reply. I greatly appreciate it. Sorry to hear about your previous seller getting one over on you. I hate when people are crooked. Thank you again.

You bet!
The bad thing is he was driving with the wrong spindle nuts on and the drivers front wheel was 1/4" loose. It would have eventually fallen off if I hadnt fixed it with correct parts.

The trans had a small leak that got worse over the 10k miles I put on it. When I pulled the transfer case, part of the transmission case came with it! Good thing I had a zf5 parts truck ready in the wings

And see the wife’s or girlfriends are always complaining about “all that stuff sitting around” and see how handy the parts truck came in in your instance!
Thanks again!

Looks like a great truck. I think the 7-8 is a decent price to buy at, but....if you list it at 7-8 then people will offer 5-6. I would probably list it around 9-10k. You might also have better luck seeing if anyone if interested in trading, either full or partial. I've done that on a few vehicles. You never know what people will offer you.

Thats a pretty clean truck, up here in the rust belt, probably worth 8-10k if you have all of the paperwork for the rebuild trans and motor and a warranty.

If it has a ton of miles on it and no paperwork, $6k or so.
