429 Thunderbird into my 1965 F100
Hello to All ! I'm brand new and looking forward to getting to know the F100 community !
I could use some help from you fellas in the know. I have a really nice 1965 F100 original automatic short bed truck.(FE 352) I have been very lucky to have an opportunity to obtain a fresh 429 and C6 out of a 69 T-Bird. It is a fresh rebuild with about 6K on it. I have Ford friends but only one knows anything about trucks. So here goes. What will I need to put this motor and trans in my 1965 ? Where can I get the proper motor stands (perches)? Will the exhaust manifolds work ? Will the T-Bird oil pan fit ? I am pretty good with a wrench but I am way out of my lane with these old Ford Trucks. Any advice to head me in the proper direction will be greatly appreciated. THANKS !!

Welcome to FTE!
Lots of stuff available to help with a swap like this as it's popular. Some here specifically for the '65.

Engine supports (aka towers/stands/perches): 1973/79 F100/350 460 (all 2WD only).
You will also need the rear engine support that some peeps call a cross member and the front/rear steel rubber insulators.
1968/78 429/460 Passenger Car and 1975/79 460 Econoline engine mounting parts will not work on F100/350's. 1980/97 460 engine mounting parts will not work on 1965/79 F100/350's.
I also don't think that 429/460 car exhaust manifolds will work. I know the 1965/71 car 352/390 left manifolds won't work on 1965/76 FE trucks because of clearance problems inre to the steering gear.
I'm not sure about the oil pan. When 429/460's were installed in 4WD trucks, people used the 1975/91 Econoline 460 reverse sump pan. But, this was years ago before there were any aftermarket parts.

Here is a link to a tech article, scroll to the bottom for pictures of 429/460 engine stands. Comparison Photos of Engine Perches - FORDification.com
One thing you need to figure out before you bolt that thing in is the neutral safety and shift linkage for the transmission. Ford used a gazillion different manual levers and linkages for their transmissions. If you are sticking with the column shifter the one in the center in this picture is for a truck and is the easiest one to deal with, somebody welded a washer on it, I don't know why. There is another manual lever that is real close to the one for a truck, it was for a forklift and is still available new and will work in a pinch.

Linkage and engine mounts
It’s an original automatic truck with the old Ford O-Matic three speed. I’m sure I’ll be able to configure something that will work for the C6. So far the mounting stanchions look to be straightforward. The pictures are a big help and muchly appreciated.
Hopefully I’m picking up the motor and transmission this weekend.
Everyone has been great with sharing their knowledge and experience. Thanks again !
