2015 3.5L XLT with Rough Idle

I bought this 2015 XLT Explorer a few months ago with 89k on it. Had the motor mounts replaced, new spark plugs and I cleaned out the throttle body & MAF sensor, but occasionally it will idle rough, and almost 'hunts' for idle (like the RPM goes from 600-900)

Any ideas? Someone told me possibly throttle position sensor on pedal, but not sure if anyone has experienced that before?

Try cleaning the idle air sensor see if it helps if it does replace it.

Did you replace the coil boots with the plugs?

I did clean throttle body, and idle air sensor was clean, no difference. I have not looked the the COP boots, but not getting any codes... Looks like there is a service bulletin about re-flashing the PCM to handle the AC load, which looks like is my problem, so might try that route

I have a slight rough idle but only at cold start and goes away rather quickly. I never gave it much thought. Please post back if that takes care of your problem.

My wife is having the same issue, 2013 XLT. It will drop to about 400 RPM for a moment, then back up to 700ish, and down and back, feeling like it will die. It does it at random times.

Went to the dealer today under warranty and they couldn't replicate the issue. We have video and showed then the video. I insisted that this is going to die in an intersection or leave us stranded. I told them to keep it, give it to someone to drive, I promised it will do it again. They didn't want to.

My wife left, feeling defeated. I stayed because I was in my truck and I was asking about an unrelated topic. She calls from across the street, it was doing it and she got video again.

They agreed they would keep the vehicle and keep us posted on the issue. I'll report back with what we find. I'm thinking it's the TPS or throttle body, but that's a guess. No engine codes.

Still nothing. They have checked all the sensors and can't find the problem. They are going to flash the PCM and hope that fixes it. Been there for a week tomorrow.

Got the Explorer back. They couldn't find anything wrong, but I don't think they looked. It had 3 miles more on the ODO after the week that they had it.

Anyway, all they did was flash the PCM at my request and it seems to have fixed it. We'll see.

Wanted to post an update - the problem was a broken transmission mount. Dealer replaced and no vibration or 'rough idle' feeling anymore
