The 6.2 will still be the fleet engine but I'm going to guess there will be exactly zero 2020 6.2L Platinum/King Ranch trucks built. If I were a Ford dealer with a 2019 6.2 Platinum in my lot, I'd be cussing Ford for releasing this right now.

How much is the upcharge on the 6.4 ram and 6.2 gm 1500?

Probably in line with the 7.3.

Good luck for any dealer trying to sell a 19 Lariat or above with 6.2. I don’t expect to see many 6.2 Lariats and above for 2020.

hehehehehe! I know it but hey times change and this new engine is heavier duty and it is not a DI motor which I personally like having owned 3 GM truck 6.2 DI's and my highly modified C7 Z06 6.2 DI. Have to run the catch cans on them ( I do and you will not believe what comes out) an it is a pain plus port injection is simpler with less to go wrong! Yes know DI gets more power with the same displacement but as more info comes out about the 7.3 I believe it is going to cut into the 6.7 sales big time for people such as myself who do not tow a 5th wheel.

Yes know the video was a sales pitch to a certain extent but I am excited for the first time about a gasser in 25 years!

Will agree with this statement the 6.2 will be base model or Lariat for inventory vehicles or special order.

A 6.2L with 4.30 gearing is more than enough for most. For me, it's a toy and a toy hauler. It doesn't make any difference what Ford launches in the next 5 years, whether it's a turbo, 7.3L or 8.0L. When it comes time to trade, five years from now, I'll pick the option that best suits my needs (toy/toy hauler) that's available at that time between another 6.2L, 7.3L or an EB, depending on price/performance difference. One thing for sure: it will not ever be a diesel.

As long as "new (motor) math" doesn't take over and 7.3 is =to or < 6.0

Per Ford.com, the 7.3 will be in "all trim levels down to the F250".

The 6.2 people will still be 6.2 customers because of money and no need for performance. If efficiency is high and hp/tq is good it may hurt 6.7 sales.

The vast majority of people out there won't even know. I have sold multiple trucks, ATVs, and commercial mowers on Craigslist and one thing's for sure: most people don't have a clue about the innards of what they're buying.

If you want to sell something, get it super clean and promote the flashy stuff like heated seats, adaptive cruise control, blah, blah, blah. Most buyers of used trucks know its either a diesel or gas but they don't know anything about the specs. They've heard how well it pulls from TV commercials and friends. The difference between the 6.2 and the 7.3 will hardly be known by anyone but members of this forum.

I don't care what anybody thinks.. Poser.. bro dozer ..wannabe.. whatever.. I just know I want one.

From some stuff I have read in the last year or so.. it sounds to me like the EPA is working as hard as they can to kill the diesel in any format. Ford, like everybody else, has to be ready with a plan.. I want it to be a EB 6.2... But I doubt that is going to happen.. LOL

Funny reading how you guys talk like the 6.2 is dead. Up until it was announced the 6.2 was a great gas engine and all of a sudden its not? Give me a break. I've had two of them now and they have plenty of power to fill the niche they are in and at a premium price for the 7.3, I just don't see people swarming for it and leaving the 6.2 behind. The 6.2 is not like the 5.4 that was incredibly underpowered for how they were trying to market it in the Super Duty. I would buy another 6.2 today and would do the same 5 years from now.

I just bought my second 6.2 three weeks ago. Very happy and by the way, I've had three 6.7s. I just prefer the 6.2 for towing my landscape trailer around town.

I may get a 7.3 in the future if the need arises. But there's no way it could replace a 6.7 if I were buying another toy hauler puller. There's also no way I'd buy a first year model. I'm learning that's a little riskier than I prefer.

That is because you drive one and may be a little biased. Performance wise it will be a beast in the lower RPM's where I need it to be. It is always hard when a newer and better product is coming out especially mid life into this a style. You should hear the old men in the Corvette forums howl about the new mid engine C8 LOL. this is nothing but a vastly improved built to function optimally with the new 10 speed tranny. WHAT is wrong with that?

wrvond - You read my mind! I had a nice 15' F-150 3.5L EB that was quick and fun to drive. I even got the tow package thinking I was going to end up with a travel trailer later on. Next thing you know, the wife and I are at the local RV show and get our eyes set on a "half ton" towable Jayco 5th wheel. Unfortunately, the number didn't work out and I was short on payload. So we upgraded from our F-150 to a 17' F-250 with a 6.2L V8. I wasn't ready to drop $10K on a diesel and honestly, we didn't need it for our occasional camping.

That said, I'm VERY curious to see what numbers FORD releases on the new 2020 7.2L V8 gasser. Even if performance is midway between the 6.2L and the 6.7L Diesel, I'll give it a while to "shake out the bugs". LOL
