Truck threw a P20BA reductant heater.

Ok guys from reading online this seems a common problem. My truck is a 2015 with 75 k on it. Here is my question? Have you guys had any problems with using a aftermarket heater ? I don't want to use motorcraft if it can't make 4 years.

Ford extended the warranty on this item. My recommendation is to have warranty cover the bill.

With the exception, not all VINs within the selected model years are covered. You can check the Ford Owner site.

I would be very surprised if an aftermarket unit makes it any longer than OEM. From other posting of failures they go out between 50k and 70k. It would be nice for someone to post back if they replaced the OEM heater with an aftermarket heater and it's still in service after 150k. It would also make sense the trucks up north that require more heating cycles due to cold weather would have more failures than trucks down south that don't see as many cold days.

I replaced mine with a Dorman unit. Time will tell how long this one will last.
The OEM didn't even make it 50k miles before it failed. Time wise it was ~5 years and 8 mos.

I put a Dorman in mine after the stocker quit, over 60,000 miles ago. Even if it does die, at less than half the price of OE it's hard not to choose it. Mine may have frozen hard and broke, I filled it with DEF and the next night it went to -25. So now I keep it half full in the winter, maybe that helps I dunno.
