I'm taking out the distributor tomorrow and putting in another one. I'm under the impression that will be the same. It's got to be an emissions component. It's just got to be. We'll see. Choke cap worked well but took forever to get vertical 5 minutes. Started so nice though might just leave it alone.

Here's an updaTE. Replaced distributor this morning. Started up good set timing to 10-12 btc. Seemed good to go. Shut it off. Had to go to work, so hooked up advance can hose and air cleaner, shut the hood, started the truck and it idled like garbage. unhooked and plugged vac can and vac advance ran better. drove to work but still has terrible miss whil;e stopped at a light. Have to throw it up to neutral so it won't die. Discouraged but glad I can rule out dist. It has to be the vacuum somewhere. I'm going to unhook evertything but pvc, brake booster and tranny and see wtf.

So far I've replaced the distributor, modulator, rebuilt the carb, plugs twice, coil twice, and the firing module was not too long ago (3 months) replaced. All vac lines are new but may be hooked up wrong.
I get a hard miss of a couple of beats when in gear and with foot on the brake. Stopped at a light. It feels like it wants to die so I throw it into neutral. The coil clip/connector (horseshoe) is new, the distributor came with new rotor, pickup coil, and cap. The egr initially unplugged and capped seemed to not feel the miss. So I replaced it. It still misses. So new egr. New secondary inlet a.i.r. pipes in back of engine. New inlet secondary check valve too. Pcv valve. All new vac hoses and new battery, new choke. Currently getting vac at idle from ported nipple of 2150,. It's a C6. Vac can unhooked and plugged just to get to work.

It's a vacuum leak test. If it doesn't show anything then I would test the components in the vacuum advance circuit. Wouldn't hurt to test everything, but that regulator for sure. And the advance can, can't remember if you said it had been replaced or not. I'd test it at least.

I think I may have got it where it runs without a miss. I just unhooked the regulator and plugged the vac line to the back tree. Then plugged the front right carb nipple. Then, I ran a line to the spark port hose and teed off that over to my vac advance. To my delight the idle remained steady. I drove it and it responded well. I could still feedl those little hits in D and R so I took 1/4 turn of the rich away (turned them in) of the air mixture screws It virtually went away. I can still feel the hits as a slight surge now in the idle. I'll live with it. All the crap under there it's a miracle when it does run sweet. It actually runs and sounds good now but not quite like I've had it. I also put a delay looking valve coming away from the egr and before the fruit juice can. Then I had turned my idle so low, I turned it back close. I'll get a tach on it tomorrow. I still have some messing with toi do on the fast idle in the morning. Hopefully I'll get that 3 port regulator fixed and give it a shot. I appreciate all your help. I am going to close this case for now. I'm so broke and backed up I just can't be myself until my truck is right. It's not quite there but it's not too wrong. I'll see how it goes tomorrow. Thanks again.
