Smile Added remote start 2014 F150

I just finished adding remote start to my buddies 2014 F150 for $60.00! The F150 forum claimed all 2014 F150 come with remote start.
So i got this key; https://www.keylessentryremotefob.co...-ford-f150.htm and my buddy had it cut at the dealer
for free! I used forscan to change; BCM 726-19-01 X1XX-XXXX-XXXX remote start activated, IPC 720-01-02 XXX-X3XX-XXXX
remote start in menu with auto heat/cool or last setting & run time. Had to program the truck to accept the new key and reprogram
the remotes so the 4 button key would start the truck. Press lock then start 2 times and presto she fired right up!

Sweet. I think for my 2013 I need to purchase a kit with an antenna and harness, then program the truck.

The antenna will give you extra range, which I recommend, but is not necessary to enable remote start.

I didn't know that, but it probably is better to have that antenna.

I have only used the feature rarely. At home I keep mine in the garage and western Oregon does not get too cold normally anyway. I only make emergency trips east of the Cascades in the winter. When I have I was grateful for the feature, nice to let it warm before clearing a windshield and all. A little confusing to an oldster like me when trying to drive off though. I learned to just turn it of and restart, easier on old brains.

My truck is just a bit taller than the garage door, so it stay's outside, and the high temperature yesterday was 3 degrees, so I would love to have this on my truck right now.

EXTRA range, huh?... I need that- mine is good for about 30 feet, head on. And yes, I added the antenna and programmed a new key and the truck computer, also. I am thinking of moving the antenna up to the windshield- or extend the wire to above the windshield.
Other than that, not too hard of a job. I still need to enable the readout for run time, as 10 minutes hardly warms anything up at -26F..............

Curt,

Not that I really need Remote Start here, but hey for $60 why not. I have seen in FORScan where I enable the the Remote Start, so that's easy.
My question is did you program the new Remote & re-program the old Remotes yourself or take it to the Dealer?

Thanks, Warren

I had the owner cut the key, then programmed it
to start the truck. Then programmed the key to
lock/unlock/start. Press lock twice then as it start. You have to have 2 Original keys to program the 3rd key.

You are programming the new key to start the truck first, chip matching. Great you tube video on this. Install original key and turn ignition on for 5-10 seconds, remove 1st key install 2nd OEM key turn ignition on for 5-10 seconds. Remove key and install 3rd key to on and the locks should cycle on/off. I saw a 5 digit number on the display after the 2nd OEM key was on for 5 seconds.

Now that the key starts the truck, time to program the lock/unlock/auto start. Close all doors and press the unlock on the door, then using the OEM key cycle the key on/off 8 times then remove. Install new key and cycle on/off 8 times. The door door locks should cycle if programming was complete

Regarding the 'optional' antenna ...................... my 2012 Lariat has the factory-installed remote start ............... so wondering if that came with the antenna ? If I could increase the range by adding the 'optional' antenna, I'd consider it.

If you get the antenna up by the rear view mirror, it would be worth the $30 cost

My current range is about 75 yards ............... would that indicate that I have the optional antenna already ? If I dont, can I expect the optional antenna to extend my range beyond 75 yards ?

This is way cool! I've often wondered if it is that easy on some vehicles and have never pursued it.
