No this is the only Ford dealer close by. But I am near other ones semi often so I'm not totally stuck.
Could some one please provide me with an invoice that shows the flash upgrade on it, part number description and all. I don't care to have your name or the dealer name on it ( not trying to get any one if trouble or point fingers). But when I talked with the service manager and mentioned that I had heard of people getting this updated he said that he wanted to see someones invoice with the upgrade clearly stated on it. If you can help me and don't want to post it on the forum I understand. Let me know and mabye we can do an email swap thing.
I don't want to give the dealer or city out untill I been more than fair with them and they have had there full chance to help me out.
The equipment and software to reprogram the PCM is very expensive. From what my service manager told me they have no choice but to keep the equipment and software up to date or lose dealership. I think you need to find another dealer and/or contact Ford customer service and file a complaint about your truck and dealer.
Maybe his dealer is playing it safe and is going to make sure it really helps. After all how many s#%t
flashes have we had. Sound like he's gun shy and doesn't want more grief.
I posted this in the "First Tow with a 6.0" Thread. I was wondering if the new flash may have a problem when towing very heavy loads since I have not seen this problem mentioned earlier. Anybody else with the most recent flash have towing problems or is it a unique problem with my truck? - Towed my 5th Wheel (about 12,000 lbs.) to Charleston, SC this weekend. On the way up, no problems, strong tow truck. On the way back, some strange things happened. The roads in Chucktown are rough. The 5ver started bucking (lurching?). This is hard to explain. It felt like the truck was going to come apart unless I accelerated or let off the pedal completely. It seemed that every time I hit a bump in the road and the trailer rocked a little, the truck would start this violent shaking. I began using cruise control and the problem stopped. Also, I was in the tow-haul mode. This was my first tow with the new truck. I just had the most recent flash done. I had an '03 6.0 (long story, but it got hit and replaced) and never had the problem when I towed with it. Anyone had any similar experiences while towing a heavy trailer?
As I continue to rack up some miles, I become more annoyed with this new flash. I am now starting to detect lots of smoke at start-up. Also, the truck puts out lots of smoke/stink/ what ever you call it, all the time. I stop at a stop light, and the smell permeates the cab, with the windows closed and the ventilation off. I pull up somewhere, shut the truck off, and jump out, its hard to tolerate the smell. Almost like the truck is running way to rich.
Needless to say, I am not totaly happy. The truck does run well, however.
