2011 lost power and shut down

Pulled out from getting my exhaust replaced with a straight pipe from Pro Flo and removing the egr, and the water in fuel light came on last week there is no water, cap is clean, we replaced the sensor, and now the message returns everyday but only in the afternoons (sounds weird but true).

Today, I left work for lunch and truck lost power briefly (reduced power and engine overheat message flashed quickly). I pulled of immediately and it shut down on it's own, then same messages flashed quickly with low oil pressure message added. Then it would not start and had to be towed.

Anyone else experience anything like this? Ford tech believes a firmware update will correct it, he stated the computer showed a temp over 800 degrees...but the truck had to be under 100 as I did not let it warm up and the high today was 24 degrees.

just curious, I am afraid this truck is going to be a frequent flier to the shop.

Could it be tuning related? Did it have issues beforehand hence the deletes?

Does it cranky normally? No odd noises?

I deleted with custom SCT tunes back in Nov without issues, the egr was left on the truck and I had it removed two weeks ago. I too still think it is something with the tunes.

Update

Just got my truck back today, replaced the pcm and so far so good. $1,400 for parts, tow and labor. Sure hope this is all. My worries now is the 2010 build engine, hope I do not have the valve issues that I am reading about.
