Hawser fairlead license plate mount

anybody have ideas how to mount my license plate to my hawser fairlead? I’ve googled and have seen several options, but I don’t know which one is quality and will work well.

I would hang it below the fair lead, centred, on a small loose hinge, so that when driving it blow up underneath, but hangs down stopped. A small stainless steel hinge that’s long enough to attach at both bolt holes of the plate, and affix to the bottom edge of the bumper. Other option is the same hinge, but hinged above the fairlead, so the plate can be flipped back out of the way.

I like the idea mhoefer has about the plate hanging down. What about using small link chrome chains instead of a hinge? Maybe too much banging around while moving?

Idk your lights take up a lot of realestate, don’t see where without lowering your light output.. put here’s a few examples of my rig and a buddy’s rig. They old school rigs but ain’t nothing new.

Hello blazer puts his up above the bumper

As do I welded a solid bracket to the top of the bumper right above the warn

Those are all good ideas, thank you. I drilled and welded nuts oto the back side of the skid plate on my Jeep, then mounted the plate. That worked well but this skid plate is a little to steep, it would be hard to see. I like the idea of a ss hinge. Any pix of the hinge setup?

I think you could conform and bend it under on of the tow hooks.

The other option would be a hinge over the fair lead. Hook the cable under the bumper or tow hook so it will sit flat. May need to shim out the hinge bracket so the plate rests level on the cable.

Can the plate not be installed with their bracket?

It has a winch there. I’d bolt a stainless ring at the bottom of the bumper on one side and run the cable there then mount as said in instructions but would need a hinge.

Could also shim out and wingnut the bracket they supply.

Thanks everyone, these ideas are exactly why I posted the question. I’ll let you know what I come up with.

Take the hook off and use the two bolts to attach the plate (or longer ones), re-attach the hook when needed.

that’s funny! Did you replace it with a vehicle that had a license plate that could withstand a car wash?

Yeah, I replaced it with an F-350 license plate holder. The rest of the F-350 was a little more money.

On my Nissan Leaf (no winch) the OEM license plate bracket is super cheesy and allowed the license plate to bend in the car wash. I replaced that bracket with one from a Superduty that I found online. Minor modifications to it but otherwise it fit great!
