Replacement shocks for 01 F250 best brand

so Bilstein or something else? 01 F250 used only to tow. 65k miles give or take. Has airbags and an F350 rear axle.

You’re going to see Bilstein and Rancho suggested the most because well they spend the most on advertising. I opted to dump the Rancho’s the PO put on my truck and went with KYB MONOMAX. They are from Japan’s heavy industry and they ride great regardless of whether my Dually is loaded or empty. When this set needs to be replaced it’ll be with another set of KYB’s. My truck was purpose built to be a tow rig.

I bought and installed Bilstein 4600 HD's. Some people hate them, I like them. I got them on sale at the time. They of course made a very noticeable difference compared to the 240,000 mile OEM shocks. The Bilstein performed very well towing a 10K lbs travel trailer, a 12K lbs 5th wheel and now a 10K lbs 5th wheel.

Do some research, make your own decision about what will work best for you and your situation.

Whatever you pick, swapping shocks out is pretty easy.

I also went with Bilstein 4600s on my F-350 and a Bilstein steering stabilizer, am 100% happy with all of it going on 5 years now on the front and stabilizer and 2 years on the rears..

I like the Bilstein Limited Lifetime warranty and have used it without hassle on several occasions without any trouble and saved me an estimated $600 in new shocks. So yes, they paid me to advertise for them. LOL

I put Bilsteins on the wife Durango a while ago and was just looking for options. Never considered the KYB. If the kyb and Bilstein are equal Iíll go with the Bilstein as I can get them cheaper

One is German and one is Japanese. They are both top shelf parts. I have the Bilstein 4600s on the front of my 2wd and they are very firm. The stock ones were totally blown so I'm sure anything would have been a huge improvement. I will get around to the rears eventually.

the best brand is a silly question, not only is it highly subjective each brand also has diffrent models that will have diffrent valving and ride qualities, unless you get the model that suits your needs it is going to suck even if it is from a popular brand.

Agree that shocks is a highly subjective question. I went from bilstein 5100 up front and Rancho 9000 in the rear to KYB Monomax all around and IMO, the KYB is an improvement.

I replaced my bilstien and went with Rancho's and totally regret it. Neighbor has a SD so he hawked me pulling wheels and the sound of the impact.......he came and picked them off the floor as I dropped them.

The Rancho do a fine job of articulation and handling variant angles but for on road use I have to drink out of a bottle and either take a huge chug or cap it and drink it flat.
