2019 F350 New Owner Questions

Just took delivery of my truck that I ordered on 10/22. Lariat Ultimate CCSB 4X4 SRW 6.7. Have a few questions. 1) My heated/ventilated seat controls don’t show up on the climate screen of the Sync 3. I thought they were supposed to. 2) Is the exhaust brake either on or off using the button or is there another mode and is it ok to use it all the time? 3) I can’t for the life of me get my iPhone to pair with the Sync 3. It finds the truck but repeatedly says failed to pair. I’ve tried multiple times and even let the truck sit shut off for several hours and tried again but still won’t pair. The truck is awesome and I can’t believe I finally own one!!

Get the salesman to get your phone hooked up. You have to be sitting still, in park, running, and you have to verify the pairing, sometimes with a code. It’s not hard, a little patience.

Engine brake, when you push the button on the centre stack, first push lights an icon under the speedo, it’s full on, second push is automatic mode. Not quite as aggressive. The Icon changes with an A in it.

the seat icons is a Forscan modification.

yes, you can run thee gone braking all the time, in or out of tow/haul.

youve got a lot of reading to do in the manual. Takes a while but there is a lot of good stuff in there.

Thanks. Finally got the iPhone to connect, had to turn it off and back on. I'm confused about the seats though, the manual says if equipped with climate controlled seats they can be adjusted through Sync 3. It says the same thing about the heated steering wheel which I can turn on and off through Sync but nothing for seats. Not a huge deal I'm just confused because the Quick Reference card says it and the owners manual says it.

But don't you have dedicated switches for the heated/cooled seats? I prefer the switches all day long over having to navigate through menus.

There is a Forescan mod to put them up on Sync for hte seats, but I am using the deditated switches for heat and cooling. What I would like is teh icons at the top of the screen for the back seat heaters, in case they are left on. You will get marking of the back seats if the back is folded down on the seats, or the bottoms folded up and the seat heaters are on.

You can run the exhaust brake all the time. Just a warning though to watch out using it in inclement weather, it’s easy to lose traction and end up in a hairy situation.

You can put the seat icons on the climate screen using Forscan. Just be warned that any changes to Sync (APIM module) will be transmitted to Ford. Don't know if it makes a difference or not, just thought you should know.

As stated you can get the heated seat controls onto the SYNC screen with FORScan. I did it on my XLT. I have factory navigation so I only see them on the Home screen, where it's split between Nav and whatever audio source is being used.

The two modes for the engine brake are normal and auto. Under normal it functions like any other engine brake, slowing the truck. If you are in Auto, it will hold the truck to the speed you are going when you let off the brakes. This is typically used for long down-hills. If you are going down a hill at 40 mph and press the brake pedal slow to 30 mph and have Auto on, the computer acknowledges the speed when you let off the brake pedal, and the engine brake will hold the truck to 30 mph. In both modes, you'll notice the truck down shifting to get the RPMs up in order to make the engine brake more effective.
