Stopped at idle with windows up I get some diesel fumes. Any ideas on what to check first?

I plan on smoking the exhaust to check for leaks. Any other suggestions or common issues?

I would look at the down pipe clamps.

 

 

Since you are in a 7.3, I'd say your donut gaskets have started leaking on your up-pipes.

 

I have the same issue, depending on which way the wind is blowing when I fire it up.I have bellowed up pipes. Im thinking the HVAC system is pulling/leaking outside air.....maybe via cowl? I have yet to get worried about it enough to act on it. I did check the up pipes though, just for piece of mind.
