Cowl gasket installed correctly?

I warmed the seal and the cowl with a hair dryer before installation. I didn't use a heat gun because I didn't want that much heat around the paint.
As you can see, the corners peeled up a little. I didn't read the instructions on the adhesive tube, so I didn't know to apply it to the seal and to the cowl. If I had, the corners might have stuck better.
Once it was on and cured, I installed the vent/cover. The seal was still very stiff, so I heated it up again, closed the vent, and put about 30# of weight on it for a couple of days. I have left it open for a couple of days to see if it would puff back up, but it seems to have done the trick. The cover still sticks up about 1/16". I think I can live with that, but we'll see when the hood is on.

Jason, I took another snap and tried to get closer to the same angle as yours. They look similar, but it looks like the little ribs on mine are a little more even as they go around the corner from the end to the front. Yours looks more raised up on the end.
Mine is also from MidFifty. It fits over the lip in the cowl metal.

I have a question regarding the Cowl Vent seal. I am working on a 53 Ford F100. I installed a new vent gasket from MidFifty and I believe I have it installed correctly. With that said, it looks like that thing is gonna leak like a waterfall when driving thru a rainstorm. This is my first experience with a Cowl Vent. Am I wrong about these things leaking? Is there a better solution? I was thinking a soft, flat, 1/4 inch thick silicone seal glued to the Cowl Vent Lid. Anyway, I'm just throwing this out there and hoping I can get some feedback from those that have experience. Thanks in advance!

I haven't got the vent connected to the hinges yet, it is just placed into position. There is no tension/gasket compression; however, It does appear to be sitting up a bit and I expect that to be the case after it is fully connected. I may be plesantly surprised if it does not leak; however, it just looks like a prime leak candidate. My friend has a 51 Chevy truck and he is constantally complaining about leaks and I believe the vent may be the source.
