Hi all has anyone converted from the standard bulbs to LEDs? I was looking at Carid's website and there are a lot of choices. I don't want to blind folks but the F250 light suck.
My wife's honda has all LED lighting front and rear. Its's simply amazing.
I did install a 30 LED light bar in the grill and it's so bright I can't run them on the street due to the brightness. I tend to use them in off road places.
There are quite the number of choices with LED headlights. The 2 things to keep in mind are the Lumens and temperature which is measured in Kelvin. The other thing I look at is the wattage. Usually the higher the wattage the more light or higher the Lumens. The lower the temperature the the more orange the light is, the higher the temperature the more blue the light is. Headlights are usually in the 4,000k - 7,000k range. The other thing you want to consider is replacing the fog lights with LEDs. The temperature of the LED headlights with the color of the incandescent fog lights IMHO looks "weird". With that in mind you'll want to make sure you get the same temperature fog lights as the headlights. There are a number of "plug and play" bulbs. I went with a set up that uses a driver and a "flicker" canceller. 2 small rectangular boxes that I 3Med double sided taped to the back of the headlight assembly. It's really NBD to remove the headlight assembly. I believe 4 or 5 10mm bolts to remove the grille and 4 10mm bolts to remove the headlight assembly. Biggest PIA is releasing the clips at the bottom of the grille. You'll need a long screwdriver to push the tab down to release the clip. Takes less than an hour.
I did this last week. Toughest part was having to remove the Ranch hand grille guard by myself in order to remove the headlight housings. I did have to pull them out a second time to adjust the bulb position, if you install them in the wrong position the bright and low will be just the opposite. In hand sight maybe I should have read the instructions better or the manufacture could have deciphered them to English better.
I think I gave around $39 delivered from Amazon for the pair.
