Questions on installing a new differential

Would like to remove the factory LS on an 06 superduty. If it is a simple operation of removing the old and swapping the ring gear onto a new true trac or some other brand do I need to worry about pinion depth, should it change at all. I understand the need to check backlash, bearing preload and how to adjust by shimming but was wondering if the pinion depth would need to be a concern or if it would simply stay the same as the ring gear should reinstall in the same position relative to the pinion gear and in line with the axle shafts if I am visualizing it correctly.
Thanks
Eric

All adjustments need to be checked.

Save yourself a headache and don't consider a true trac, Pinion depth will not change by just changing a carrier. Start with the carrier shims that are on the factory carrier and go from there. I always check back lash in 4 places around the ring gear.

What's wrong with the True Trac?

About 4 years ago I put a Trutrac in my 06 Powerstroke rear axle and it worked great. Early Trutracs had reliabiliy issues, but ones sold over the past 10 years or so have been great. Lots of positive posts on this forum alone.
