Cylinder Head HPOP Fitting Question

I just got the replacement from clay for a leak on the driver's sside. Before I go swap em out. Does anyone know if I need to use loctite (like the HPOP outlet fittings)? Also, is there a torque spec for these?

Thanks in advance,
Rhodester

No loctite needed in the heads. Just good and tight.

Go gently and use o-ring lube or engine oil on the ring when getting it into the recess in the head. The edge machined into the casting on some heads is fairly sharp, and can cut the o-ring if you're not careful. Ask me how I know.

No Loctite on the HPOP fittings either. That green stuff will pull out those threads. The pump is aluminum. Ask me how I know.

I dunno, I've read and heard that green loctite (which is a weak loctite) is necessary at the pump since they don't get torqued hard.

Mark, I used to think this and I know that Bob at DOrings sells it, but I talked to Corey at CNC at length when i bought the upgraded lines. He told me that since the pump is aluminum, even the green stuff can very possibly take some threads with it upon removal of the fitting....and he was right. When I pulled my fittings out of the pump to put the new ones in, a piece of thread came out of each hole. I got lucky and it turned out ok, but I saw exactly what he meant. He said the o-rings and the nature of the bond between the steel fitting and the aluminum housing is more than good enough. If someone really feels the need to use Loctite, use the stuff (don't recall which number) that sets up like a Nylok. It is much easier on the aluminum.

I used nothing and just torqued properly with the new o-rings. All good so far.

On the HPOP, I used what they sent in the package with my RiffRaff order... but the next time that HPOP has an issue, it's going to become a core anyways. After the reports of thread damage, I'll know to heat the fittings to remove them.
