I saw him coming, but had nowhere to go. He lifted the back of the Explorer off the ground and shoved us into the Pathfinder in front of us, which then rolled into the intersection. Thankfully, the light had *just* changed and there was no traffic coming.

Everybody was sore, the Yaris driver had a bloody nose from his airbag. The Pathfinder driver got out ready to fight, I just pointed my thumb over my shoulder at the Yaris and he had his "aha" moment. The Explorer drove home, but it's toast. This all relates back to the Bronco coming out party in that my girlfriend was holding on to the Explorer only until the new Bronco is out... now she has to make a decision on what to do with the Explorer going bye-bye and no Bronco on the market.

Upside: she has a 1986 Bronco in the back yard, we may put some money into it to make it bearable until the 2021 version hits the streets...
Is the wait till 2021 a typo? Or you're not buying 2020 model?

It says coming 2020 so there's a chance you can buy it in 2020 which would make it a 2021 bronco

But he could also mean he won't buy the first model, lots of people avoid the first year of a big change, especially if it's a brand new car.

I bought 3 first year versions.

1991 Explorer
1997 F150
2015 F150

Explorer had a computer issue within a few months, but it was taken care of.
1997 had no issues.
2015 had cosmetic issues, a defective CD player, a defective tailgate bumpstop, a broken headrest adjuster and while working on the CD player the auto stop/start went out.

ALL cars will have some kind of issue.

I hope to buy a Bronco, my wife is curious to see how it looks too.

I have seen videos of the next Explorer and I donʻt like the media tablet sticking out of the dash, but there are several automobiles out there with a similar UGLY set up.

Ford brass has said "not this year". As per previous analysis earlier in this thread, that seems to be an unequivocal statement that there will be no 2020 Bronco release in 2019. Sure, they could do a mid-cycle release of a 2020MY vehicle in the first quarter of 2020 - Ford has made some half-year releases, including the first Mustangs, so it wouldn't be unprecedented. But "coming in 2020" and "available 2020" is ambiguous, and could easily be a 2021MY vehicle available late 3rdQ or 4thQ 2020.

As for buying first model year vehicles, I'd rather wait a bit and see if there are major revisions for cause, improvements such as a performance model (Raptor, SVO, factory licensed upfitter) or simply higher trim and option levels in the second or third year.

My girlfriend, however, isn't constrained by the same logic and will likely be fighting the crowds to get a seat in the first one on the lot.

Nearly everything on that list given in Detroit has been debuted. The only current production model left is the Escape, and that has been seen multiple times with very little camo out testing. After that it's the Bronco and Electro-Mustang.

.

I'm throwing my next dart at early April. It has the Bronco Super Celebration, New York Auto Show, and several other Bronco and off-road events. Not to mention competitor events like Easter Jeep Safari and Gladiator Launch -- and I'm sure Ford would love to steal some Jeep thunder with some kind of limited Bronco reveal. I'm not talking full debut here ... just something meaningful like images or basic mechanicals. It still has a ways to go ...
