Looking at buying a 2012 stx

I found a 2012 stx 4x4 with the 5.0 it has 154,000 i was just wondering of theres anything i should look out for. Or any common problems i should know abiut.

Fist of all, are you in a part of the country where they use salt on the roads? If so, crawl under the truck and check for rusted out rocker panels and check the bed cross members for rust. Second, make sure the engine does not have the coyote tap/tick. This will be pretty apparent if the exhaust is not too loud. Also need to look and listen for drive shaft clunk, any vibrations and overall condition of the steering and suspension.

Im near portland oregon. Our cars here here are pretty rust free. But are you talking abiut the cam phaser tick like the old 5.4/4.6 would get?
and ill listen and check if theres any ujoint sound

It's not a cam phaser issue but a distorted block - check out this thread here. There are some good posts with video. My truck was subject to this and needed to have the block replaced (luckily under warranty)

check battery age
when were the spark plugs changed ?
has it had a transmission oil change / or two ?
I like to change the rear axle and transfer case lube also when I get a truck.
Look at the antifreeze tank... Normal light orange color , or rusty contamination ?

Thanks guys! Yeah i had no clue abiut that tick sound ill definitely look/hear fkr that when i look at it.
