I finally pulled and sent off to Blue Top Steering, www.bluetopsteering.com, my original box for a full rebuild. The original box was as sloppy as a 13 year old's room. It was an HDC B box.
Ryan(owner) is very helpful and willing to spend time with any questions you have and explain all things steering.
When you send in your box it goes to the front of the line over things being built for inventory.
They will paint the box black if you don't want it blue and clear coat the tag.

Very happy with the result. My parts had significant wear, even looked like there had been water in it at some point. Ryan installed an NOS Worm and Sector that he happened to have.
Total for the rebuild was $335.
I later sent him, in case he could use any of the parts in it, another box I had pick up a few years ago thinking I could use it but it had a cracked Sector Shaft. I just wanted to get it out of the garage and not have any vintage parts that could be used to go to the scrap plie. Without even asking for any thing for it he offered give me $50 for it.

I also bought the sealed bearing for the lower part of the column that he sells. Mine was shot so bad that the tension from the steering wheel spring had actually pulled the shaft up into the column tube. It had flared the tube and cut a slot in the hardware. The sealed bearing was $50 + shipping. Well worth it I think. I had to notch the firewall retainer plate for the screw heads because I had to cut the end of the tube to lose the flare and square it up.

Bottom line use Blue Top if you are considering it.

Specs of the housing for the bearing for you guys with a lathe.

Hi Ted, Pete here in N. Carolina. A few months ago you told me about Blue top. I sent my steering box out there. It came back and it is like you said, a first class job.
Thank you so very much for your help. Ryan in N. Dakota was as you said, put my box ahead of their other work. I had it back within a week.
Cheers to you, Pete ":-)
