Can anyone tell me what this bracket or spacer is for inside the frame.
The truck is a '77 F150 4x4 shortbox. This is on the passenger side of the truck. It's tucked inside the frame (had to come from the factory this way). Location wise it sits right in front of the spring/tower housing location.
The pencil tip points to it. It has a curved shape to it and seems to have a loop/hole on the top and bottom. I can move it a little bit with a screw driver but that's about it.
Here is a picture looking up from the inside of the engine compartment. Taking on a angle from the font of the truck.
Back to not being able to upload pictures again. UGHHH!
What I want to do is....I have a complete factory quad shock option, shock towers etc....and want to install it. Why? Because I think it looks cool!
This spring/spacer thing I'm not sure if it was put there at the factory to support the frame when you run the bolts thru it so you cannot crush in the frame when tighten the bolts down. O.K. I highly doubt that but it's the only thing that comes to mind.
You can move this spacer thing around and it will line up with the factory frame holes where the passenger side front shock tower will go. Again though not a clue what it's intended purpose is for and am curious.
If you have the quad shock towers see if the bolt holes line up to that one.
Also look on the other side to see if there is a hole on it with anything going thru it.
Could it be for a right hand steering box mount?

Dave, I was told the 78/79 quad shock tower mounts fit the 77 frames as well (or late ‘77s at least) and when I picked the set up sure enough the bolt holes line up perfectly.
RH steering gear box? Didn’t think of that! Truck was built in the U.S and shipped to a Nevada dealer. I brought it back from Nevada about 3 years ago.
Thanks for asking the questions and throwing a suggestions out there.
