My take aways...
There is no need for a 10sp transmission, if it's skipping gears even while towing heavy uphill there are too many ratios.
If you're thinking of buying a midsize truck to take the family camping everybody needs to go on a diet... and pack really lightly.
Why doesn't trailer tow mode use the trailer brakes to slow down the vehicle? With all that power and electronic control you would think you could set a cruise speed and the computer would hold it up and downhill.

Looks like the only thing the Tacoma beat it at was the brake applications(woohoo, it only had to tap the brake pedal one less time). That's probably due to the larger displacement of the engine.
The 10 speed is still beneficial for non-towing driving, keeping the engine in its most efficient RPM range.
