I just removed my black running boards last night. They have 800 miles on them and are 2 weeks old.

I'm going to build some frame-mounted rock sliders (calculated to actually be able to take the weight of the truck).

I ordered without, and installed Westin Thrashers and had them Line-x't. Bolted on in minutes.
Amazon Amazon
Ive seen them go as low as $375ish on Amazon.

Does anyone know what year of the f150 brackets to use. I like the looked of them up a little tighter. Or even if there's a part number.

Having a 2017 F150 and F250 (CC) both with OEM running boards you may experience a problem with frozen snow/ice/mud if you use the F150 boards or shortened brackets. The F150 boards are so close to bottom of the door that on multiple occasions I could not open the door(s) without first chipping away the frozen stuff or risk damaging the bottom of the door(s). I haven't had this issue on the OEM factory F250 boards as they have more clearance. Just something to think about, especially if you live in a very wintery climate.

look forward to it,
I have the factory plain black, were pretty reasonable when I ordered the truck, but I do plan on some grip tape on the step, I do prefer the steps up more where rocker panel rock guards would go, and have them like that on my off roading Dodge, but at my age, and bad knees, I am leaving the Factory F250 steps where they are, they are plenty high!
