7.3 with 300k??
Was going to look at this Friday https://dallas.craigslist.org/mdf/ct...762974803.html
talked to him earlier and he said he'd take $10k for it. If it's been takin care of and has records to prove it I don't see anything wrong with it. At least right now I don't. Thoughts?

I drive my 2002 CC 2WD every day, and it's running at about 303K right now. I need to do some minor tweaking on the front suspension, but otherwise, I'd be very content and peaceful with driving it across the country. I've also been looking towards selling it in the next 1-2 years (been saying that for 1-2 years), and it would take about $10K for me to pull the trigger and let it go.

See a snake, kill it.
You know enough about what to look for. I'm seeing 7'3s go in Northern Michigan go for 8 or 9 and just the door handles are left. But everyone is in the market for a plow truck up here.
Looks like a very nice truck. Wouldn't mind seeing what the seats actually look like and a box photo. Has it towed, etc.........

Check the vertical body lines where parts meet for example the doors if it’s out of wack could have been wrecked. The gaps should be uniform.
I over paid 1 k for my truck plenty of haters were crying telling me I messed up...8 months of looking I found one that was pretty good I’m not saying would have been nice to save that at a base price so low there’s only so much room for negotiation. cost a bunch in replacing cheap parts guy must have recently replaced a ton of stuff (including tightening the gear box) how perfect the steering was for the first month. Try to get an idea of what it’s going to cost getting it up to speed + tax + insurance to see the grand total.

A cleaner one always comes around, but time, energy and money can all be put on a pie chart. If you want the truck, buy the truck. Or... if you want to him-haw over $500 or $1000, then keep waiting. Personally, I would rather spend a little more and mentally move onto other things.
All that being said, it's hard to comment on the quality of any specific vehicle without looking at it, driving it, etc. If it's in Texas, there is a good chance he has NEVER had cold start issues because it never gets cold... in other words, it probably needs injectors, glow plugs, all that ****. For any Super Duty, regardless of mileage, condition, etc. You should plan to have about $5k laying around to fix the random (poorly designed) items that inevitably just break.

Mileage means nothing with these trucks.... I'd certainly not think twice driving mine to the west coast tomorrow if need be.
Get a feel of the owner... was it his baby... or did he take it mudding every weekend. ? Pretty easy to tell if a truck has been abused or taken care ot.
Always expect to spend some money on repairs.... after all... it is a 20 year old truck !
