I doubt there's much truth to it. You won't make any big gains, I'm sure. I never modified my '96 4.9 4x4, so I can't say. Sold it in August. I am subscribing to the thread, though, as I am curious.

Likely worse than an aftermarket "hot air" intake, since it is being fed hot radiator air. That can't help anything but increase intake noise. That tube he pitched in the garbage does belong there though. The 300/460 tube is the best one.

The colder the intake air the better. I doubt there were any gains from removing that breather allowing all the hot engine compartment air into the engine. Even if there was some sort of gain in hp it wouldn't be enough to feel and would likely drop off the hotter the air got. Would probably be better off dialing in your timing than doing this Mod.

If you're that concerned about the outlet of the snorkel, just cut the opening. That video is total junk, he has a loud *** truck regardless of snorkel.

Thats why you use the 460 inlet. Pulling "more" HOT air is no benefit

That's what I did to mine.
Just open up the end going into the air filter but keep the snorkel.

Anything a Ford engineer did is part of a vast global conspiracy to make manly men more girly. YouTube will make you healthy, wealthy, youthful, sexy, wise and manly.

I'm waiting for the next installment...

"Removing the air filter, cuz it's restricting air flow"

The kid is still wet behind the ears and has lots of learning to do.
