New to the FTF
Hi there I'm new to the forum and needing some help and there seems to be some really good information here. Please forgive me if I am doubling up on past posts. I am in the middle of helping with a 1955 F100 build and have been running into wheel spacing problems. The owner of the truck bought the TCI coilover mustang II front end kit and rear 4 link kit both of which I helped install the pickup then went to the body shop where the panels were set on so it could be measured for wheels and tires. This is where it goes south. The wheels and tires showed up and they sit too far in towards the frame, front and rear. Questioned the guy who measured, ordered and sold the wheels of course he says not his fault. Just wondering if there is a standard wheel diameter and offset that can be used with this suspension setup? The pickup owner wants 20 inch wheels and also wants to keep the stock wheel opening and wheel wells. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hey 12 Silver,
Welcome aboard! We've got a Mustang II style front end installed on
our '50 F1. We tried going with large front tires but ran into rubbing issues on turns & bumps
so we had to go with smaller diameter set up to make it work. Post some pics so we can see what
you are working with.
It's good to have some new folks from North Dakota on here.

7 inch wide rim up front with 4 inch back space with a 28 inch tall tire works well on mine, don't think rim diameter matters. For the rear with stock fenders and no tubs there is 11 inches to the side of the box to the lip of the fender. You didn't say if you had a stock width rear tracking differential 60 " or the slightly narrower Explorer differential 58 1/2" .I have the Explorer , a 3 3/4" back spacing on an 8 inch wide rim is needed to center the rim. That back spacing is generally a custom order so I used a 4 inch back space and added 1/4 " spacers to save coin..hope this is of some help..

Welcome to the forum! By the sounds of your post, it seems this is not your first rodeo and already know the answer, but I'm going to say it anyway. There's nothing standard about a custom build. What we don't know is the rear end width, front end width, and what size and offsets you have currently. Bigger wheels make the fitment even trickier. The closer you get to 'wall-to-wall' tire inside the fenders adds another level of complexity. The way I see it, you need to remeasure your wheel needs correctly, and if it differs from what you have, the mistake was either in the order, or the person who measured and made the order, no matter what he says. My 2c. Good luck with your build. If you get a chance to post some pics, we'd love to see them.
