Sorry to hear about your accident. Glad everyone was okay.

I agree that a lesser truck could have ended worse. Whenever we drive out of town my wife wants to take my truck since it can take a helluva lot more beating than her unibody Jeep.

I'd offer some links to trucks out here but people are still asking $20K+ for them if they are in any decent shape.

If my wife had any say mine would be for sale right now. The only thing keeping the keys in my pocket is that she wants a newer vehicle.

Just glad everyone walked away.

Without reviewing the video, I can only surmise the canopy took the brunt of being upside-down - everything in the back was scattered and/or smashed, including the canopy. Things were so incredibly violent in the cab, my wife and I can't really parse out exactly what happened when.

That is one of the key reasons I'm not ready to review the video just yet - that... and we're still dealing with the replays already in our heads. We know we'll be fine, but we need a little time to shake it off.

Again, thank you all for the well-wishes. My wife is reading them along with me.

Side note. We scrambled to get back on the road to get home, complete with the salvageable contents of Stinky during our 2-week vacation. We rented an Explorer, and folded all the seats down. I was bowled over by how much that rig held - but we were a bit overloaded. I had to drive for three hundred miles at night with everybody in two states flashing us with highs, because our lights were tilted up by all the weight in the ***.

Man Rich, very happy that you and the Mrs. are safe and sound. That would have to suck the tighty whiteys right up to the fruit!.

Truck can be replaced, life not so much.

Can't wait to see what the future holds for Stink2.0

Black ice can get you by surprise. I rolled one 2 years ago last week on black ice 3 miles after putting plates and insurance on it. Mine faired about as well as yours but I walked away unhurt just a little sore just like you. Mine was still running when we finally came to a stop on its side it was only a mile from my house so I had the wife bring the other 7.3 over and we pulled it back in its feet and drove it home.

Fantastic that you two are ok. It is sad to loose a 7.3 , but life happens.

Seeing Stinky on it's side like that... it is staggering to comprehend what could have happened to our brother Rich and his wife... but didn't.

Thanks to whomever or whatever you believe in upstairs.

Thanks twice!

Good to hear that you and your wife are OK, Rich! Seriously, that is absolutely the most important thing, and I know that you already know. Sorry about the inconvenience associated with the truck's demise, but I know you'll come out on the better end of it in the end.

I have a request from simple curiosity, though. Given how our trucks have aged well and held their market value so well for so long, I'd be curious to know how well your insurance company compensates you for what we know is a truly valuable vehicle, especially in terms of its replacement.

Keep taking care of yourself, Rich!

Rich, first off glad to hear that you and your wife are OK. Sorry about Stinky. As far as a replacement is concerned you may want to check out the Redding area. There are a couple of car lots that tend to cater to truck folks. May be worth a look.

I'm not sure what calculator the insurance company uses but Kelley Blue Book value is nowhere near market value. I could part out my truck and make more than selling it whole with all the goodies I've got on it..

I know, and that's why I'm curious about how this whole thing is going to literally pay out for Rich. I know that when I sold my '03 Excursion over two years ago, I sold it for over $300 MORE than I had paid for it 7 years and 80K miles earlier. I'm not confident that the insurance company would have been as generous on a total loss incident!

I'm curious what the estimate would be to fix it.
