No oil pressure. can i test IPR with pigtail and 12v
I'm still fighting my crank no start issue. Right now I don't have oil pressure at the ICP and will run down to Grainger and get a cheap high pressure gauge to verify zero pressure from the HPOP. After I buy a few fittings, I'll isolate each bank to verify I don't have a stuck open injector dumping oil.
My question is can I test the IPR with a pig tail connector with 12 volts across it? How long can I leave the 12 volts before I risk burning the solenoid? I have no idea the normal voltage from the PCM/IDM so is 12 volts too much?

12v to the ipr is always present with the key on. It never varies. Same circuit as the 12v to the GPR. The pcm varies the ground to control the solenoid. You could simulate it with a potentiometer if you wanted or straight ground is going to fully open the ipr for max psi.
Does the oil psi gauge on the dash raise up to normal when cranking?

My crank no start thread
Adam- appreciate you adding to my no start thread. I checked the HPOP reservoir and ensured it was full.
BTW- I started this 12V IPR thread so someone else can read it and understand how to test the HPOP pressure by putting 12v across the IPR. I only search the forum by key words in titles so I tried to build threads with titles that are self explanatory, even if it duplicates another thread but with a generic or misleading title. Just my way of trying to add back to the forum since I've gotten so much help from everyone. There's no way I could own an older truck without the knowledge and assistance from the guys here.
