1997 Ranger door swap question

Hi everyone,

I was recently hit in the drivers door by a deer, and it dented my 97 Ranger pretty badly. My truck has power windows and power locks

I found another door that is the same color as my Ranger (this door is a 95), but it is a crank window.

How difficult would it be to move the power window setup over to this new door? Is it a huge hassle?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Joe

easy peasy, I put all the power stuff from a 97 on my 94 that had manual windows. Everything bolts right in yours will be easy since you already will have the wiring in place.

Wow thanks, Hank. That's really helpful and gives me confidence that I can do it. Now I just hope that the colors are close and haven't faded differently over the years!!

just use the door liner from your current door with the switches etc.

Exactly! Interior will look the same as it did before.

Thanks, guys.

Now I have a bigger challenge -- maybe this one deserves its own thread --

How do I disconnect those door wires without cutting them? I don't really see a plug disconnect in the cab -- the wiring appears to go through the door behind and above the emergency brake pedal -- not accessible to the human hand . . .

Is there a big plug somewhere under the dash where I can disconnect all those wires? I really don't want to cut them . . .

Thank you all! Any help would be so greatly appreciated!

yes just follow the rubber bellows from the door to the cab. pull it loose and you will find the plug in there no need to cut anything.

you will need to pull the driver side kick panel.

LMC Catalog does not show the piece that you have broken and asking about. Truck Parts and Truck Accessories

So you may need to fabricate from aftermarket stuff for the trim piece? Have never seen (or paid attention) such a piece on a door. But other than that all doors are same.
