Don't know about your state but here a salvage title is permanent to the vehicle's registration. Just something to consider.

If he buys it back and there's not a title transfer it probably would never end up being a salvage title. I buy a lot of trucks at the insurance auctions. Some get parted some get fixed and very few end up with salvage titles. Carfax shoes total loss but title is still clear. Crazy how screwed up system is.

What he said. My buddy's truck will not be salvage if he buys it back, which he will.

My father has on I ever bought mine new truck for himself.
hes bought several new cars for my mother over the years.
But in 1987 he boibou a Chevy Silverado.
Last year of that body. First year of throttle body.
350 small block.
He's still driving it.
The year he retired from Texaco as a welder he rebuilt motor and transmission.
It had 350k miles on it then .
That was 1999
No telling what the milage is now.
That year odometer still flipped back to 0 at 100k.
Last year during the storm flood there house had 4 1/2 feet of water inside.
His truck went under water along with mother's 2017 Chevy traverse.
A 1930 ford car we restored.
A 1940 ford truck we just put a 400 hp 350 into.
My 1966 ford mustang they bought me for my 15 b day . In 1995
They totalled his truck. And he bought it back.
Said he'd die still driving the only new truck he ever bought.
He has a salvage title now. That states flooded on it.
I'd buy mine back for the right price.
just have to play the game and see how it comes out.

If someone did that to my truck and I caught them.....well I'd probably end up in jail. They just need to be beaten and beaten again, with baseball bats.

Don't be to hard on the adjuster just yet. The $1,400 estimate sounds like someone was trying to play it safe. Start with a repair estimate instead of trying to total it right off due to age. They expect supplemental claims from the repair shop before the final amount is figured. This was just a placeholder to open the file and get the process started.

If you can get it towed to a local shop, give them your list of everything you had in it so they can put that in their estimate to the insurance company. Go over everything you see with the repair shop and let them deal with the insurance company.

I lived in Lafayette for a while around 1990, the bar scene was pretty tough at times and by this, I mean the coonass women too!

Srbf150S i love it. They or a special breed of women.
ive always jokingly said when I get in a bar fight I want to hear the sound of a pool stick breaking over someone's knee.
Turn around to see my wife telling everyone that the first guy that hits her husband is loosing his teeth. Lol.
Now I haven't drank or been in a bar cents my wife got pregnant in 1996 with our first son . And ask that we not raise our kids in a house with a drunk for a dad.
but before that I would take her out to some bar dancing every weekend .
And there my little 5'2" 105 pound coonass was behind me ready to scrap.
We've came a long way from there. Raised our kids every Sunday in church. She is over our county's appraisal district . Wears dress suits every day.
Our kids have seen old pics of us . And heard stories from my friends.
But have no idea how to really understand that life style.
And I'm kinda glad about that fact.
they haven't been sheltered but just raised different than us.
But I can still look at her after 29 years and see that same 17 year old. hot as h#ll . Scrappy coonass that I ask to marry on our first date inside there .

I have to give it to her. She's stayed through my 5 spinal reconstructive surgery's .
were at the worst I couldn't feel anything from my waste down. Couldn't walk. To a walker . A cane . Then long rehab. Starting at 30 years old.
bathed . washed and dressed me.
Knee replacement.
right Shoulder surgery. Need left now..
Been a long road .
but I could look at her and two kids depending on me.
look at possibility of government disability.
Or look at a welding hood & lunch box.
I think most all of us here would man up .
Do God knows how many months of painful rehab it takes .
dust off the lunch box . Pick up the welding hood . Kiss the kids and wife .
And limp out the door to work.
i can remember mornings waking up and thinking if I can roll out of bed onto the floor. Stretch out till I could feel my legs. and walk to the kitchen I could make it to work that day.
Lots of mornings I still fall down before making it to the kitchen.
All started when my oldest was 3 .
He graduated from college 10 days ago.
Youngest just finished first semester of college.
Please don't think that I believe I'm special.
Because I Know I'm not.
If it hadn't been for unceasing support and help from my family. That I can never repay .
And the grace of God .
id still be laying in bed feeling sorry for myself .

We all have struggled in our lives... be it emotional, psychological, physical, spiritual or many other ways. The true measure is how we learn and move forward, even when there is no clear path.

Merry Christmas
