I'm trying to replace the up pipe gasket on the passenger side.

2008 F350 6.4L I have the nuts off but can't seem to get the up pipe off the studs to replace the gasket. Any hints or help would be greatly appreciated. I'm tackling this job in my driveway in the snow.

The bellows aren't flexible enough to do this one-ended. If it's been fully deleted, do you have all 6 fasteners off, top and bottom? If not, it's a much more involved process. You should strongly consider doing the full delete if it's an option. I just finished mine - the passenger side bellows was (were?) broken, and the delete turned out to be cheap and fairly easily accomplished.

That said, the delete kits say to use UHT silicone on the gaskets upon install. if you can move the pipe at all, squirt the stuff in the break and let it go until spring. Good luck!

Removing of the Transmission

How difficult is the removal of the transmission and is there any special tools required? Any tricks and hints would be greatly appreciated?

in reading that thread it appears that it was an either or...some folks pull the turbo...some folks pull the tranny.

The reason I checked into this is because I probably have a leak that needs to be addressed.

which would I do...I would probally pull the turbo with the thinking I could throw a rebuild kit into it ..the last time I had the upipe off there was some play in the impeller. .my tranny is fine.

tranny is heavy...your going to need the harbor freight tranny jack.

I did not find anyone who said the up pipe could come off with oout pulling turbo or tranny...not saying it cant be done...just dont know.

Thank you, I do just need to replace the gaskets on the passenger side up pipe. I just was unsure if removing the tranny would actually allow me to get at the top bolts of the up pipe going into the turbo. 2 of those are not too bad to get to but the 3rd seems to be impossible from the top with the cab on. And because I'm going to be doing this in my driveway without a lift, the transmission seems like my only option?

Just a casual observer- but the above thread seems to cover the 7.3? Seems correct for the 7.3 (I pulled the turbo). Don't own a 6.4 but think the procedure would be different?

Yes, this is for a 6.4. I wish I had a 7.3
