AC unit

Does not fit correct behind dash-- the dryer and condenser goes in front of radiator with their bracket-- I would put dryer in # 6 line at inner fender and run rubber hose not the hard line like they want takes to mush room in front of radiator and blocks to much of the fins----- the ENTIRE set-up engineering SUCKS for 1953-56 F-100--- Good Luck

f100Supercrew... ??? this isn't behind dash... it's mounted on the radiator support on the passenger side. I'm using tilt front end so no inner fenders.. #6 braided line will feed the dryer (from the evap) on the left port and hard line will wrap around the radiator support and feed the condenser from the right port

I've installed 2 of them so far and had no problems, things are very tight under the dash but I'm sure other makes have the same pitfalls..

Because of the way the tilt hood fits against the radiator mount I got no room in front of the radiator and condenser for the dryer... I'm using hard line from the dryer to the condenser because there isn't room for a hose to fit between rad support and the hood insides. A picture would help here, wouldn't it. There is certainly no room under the dash for nothin !!! I'm dreading all that part of the plumbing

With two in service, how do you feel about the performance of both the heating and cooling? Since I've got to swap engines anyway, I'm thinking about installing one in my '55 while it's apart. I want to be able to drive it year round when the weather is nice..

In my panel the unit doesn't cool as well in the panel as it does in the pickup but does enough to keep you comfortable on the hottest days we get here in the 90° temps. In the pickup I barely have the A/C turned up and it gets pretty chilly in the cab and my wife finds it too cold at times. We drive the trucks the earliest and latest times in the year as the weather allows and as long as there is no salt on the roads. Have had them out in temps just below freezing and there is lots of heat. I'm sure there would be no problem with me running it through the winter here. Roads are just too messy to enjoy the trucks in the winter..

we can pretty much drive year round down here, except for the rainy days .... we get some cold weather and seen sum sub zeros on rare occasion... don't have to deal with road salt or that other crap they use on the roads up north... when things ice up they usually sand the hills and bridges and let the insurance companies fight it out.

If I can find another 56 somewhere close I'd like to build a winter driver ...
