Absolutely, but it’s more work than is necessary. I just pressed the air nozzle up against the oil port and held it there until I heard gurgling from under the VC. It took about a minute. Just make sure you cover the nozzle with a rag because once you pull it off, all of that pressure is gonna spit oil back at you.

I found another post where a guy had a leak he couldn't figure out and finally got some kind of a hand pump and put 1500 lbs of air on his injectors and found out they were leaking internally. At least that's how I understood it. I'm going to get a rubber nozzled air nozzle and do the test tonight while I wait for my fittings to come in to deadhead the pump. I wish I could rent a known good IPR. Lol

IPRs are supposed to rattle when you remove them and clean them. Mine was stuck open once, and I had to clean it to get running again. I think it's a common occurrence to hammer the IPR with air after major work, then the IPR gets stuck open.

Well I think I got it fixed. I did the pressure test by removing the hpop lines at the heads and did not hear or see any leaks so I replaced the IPR. Put it back together and started it. It took a bit of cranking to start. I let it run for 3 or 4 minutes and shut it off and finished buttoning up under the hood. Started it again and it was slow to build hpop pressure but it started again. I think I still had some air in the system. I took for about a 15 mile drive. Once warm I did the wot test and the hpop leveled out at about 2500 psi and IPR was at about 55 percent. That was the highest I ever got. Cruising at 2200 rpm IPR was about 27% and hpop was about 1950. I sure am glad I didn't have the shop put a hpop in. Saved me over $1,000. When i get a chance I'll hook up a trailer and my tractor and see how it does. My next project will be to build a high top creeper because my knees and chest are shot from getting on top of the motor. Thanks for all the advice and help!

Mike
