1995 Ford E350 Van od light flashing.

New here and hope I put this in the right place. My van drove me crazy forever with the od light flashing and jumping in and out of gear. I researched it everywhere and changed lot of parts before finally fixing it. It is a very command problem on these and no one seem to know what it was causing the problem. I changed all wheel sensors no luck, pulled code for block sensor in trans and that seemed to fix it for awhile, then started again. Changed anti lock brake module and that stopped the anti lock brk light staying on.But it wouldn't pull a code after that to tell me why od light flashed and jumped in and out of gear. Then finally found a post about the throttle body sensor causing shift problems and that it controlled voltage to brain box letting it know what gear to stay in and that rang a bell for me. I changed it and on Ford you have to pull the throttle body because it is on the bottom of it and I read post that for Ford charges $500.00 to do it. Anyway I changed it and no more flashing od light.Or radical shifting either. I had read lot of folks post who had spent $1000s on their vehicle at shops and dealers to only get almost home and it do it again. Some posted they were gonna sue the shops.

Anyway I just wish before I spent all I did, I could found a post like this telling the problem which would have saved me lots of time labor and money . I hope all who are having this problem find this post. I put a 1000 or so miles on it Thanks Giving and no problems.

Thanks and good luck to all.

Trying to fix these without reading the codes wastes a lot of time and money. How do you know that the next person that has a flashing OD light has the same problem that you did? There are about 50 things that can make the OD light flash.

I don't ; But maybe it will help someone that does have same problem with same vehicle. Never know. And I always pull codes. That's how I knew about the block sensor in tranny. But for some reason it wouldn't pull the throttle body sensor which caused me a lot of money and labor. Maybe I didn't explain myself right and for that I will say sorry.

Simply pulling the code fixed it? And X2...what is a 'block sensor' in a trans?

A post on what forum? How about a link? And I guess you mean the Throttle Position Sensor?

The high pressure block sensor located in the in transmission on bottom under pan and it's where the wire plugs in.

block sensor fixed it for awhile then it started again flashing and going in and out of gear.

And I thought I knew these transmissions. I've never heard of this. What does it do?

It has more than one sensor in it and it controls the the fluid pressure.

Well, going by the YT video it seems you actually mean the "Throttle Position Sensor".

Sorry you see my post as being 'testy' but I'd like to be clear as to what you're trying to say. Links to good info always help.

What codes, or what other info led you to believe the ABS module and/or sensors were related to the trans problem?

Oh yeah---big time agreement there! Its almost sad to watch but yet I can't turn away..........................

At some point Mark might be compelled to once again share his resume---that tends to quiet those who we might call clueless if less polite.
