Window Issues

I am having a window issue on my 96. The windows are manual cranks. The glass is rocking back and forth binding up. Is this the regulator or what?

You are going to have to take the door card off anyway, so check it out and see whats happening. If you're not aware, the window crank is two piece and you take the cover off the inner piece where it attaches to the door. Ease it off and when it is able to rotate move it over and there is a screw in there that you have to remove to get the crank and door card off.. It is well hidden and frustrating if you don't know about it. Sandy

Could be tracks working loose. I agree, you got to get in there and check it out. Lots of variables.

Wear a tight pair of mechanics gloves as there are just a ton of sharp edges on things in the door. First time I had to work on the electric window motor I cut my hands up something aweful. I found removing the door speaker gave me more room to get in there and do things, it may help you as well.

I doubt it is the regulator. More likely the felt in the guide tracks is worn out. As others have stated you need to remove the door panel to see what is actually going on and not just start ordering parts.

I agree with other posters, check it.I had this problem on mine and it turns out that the metal tabs that hold the door together at the top had disconnected.I also found that the doors had a tiny crack in the skin near the disconnected tabs were.I welded the tabs back to the skin and welded the cracks, then replaced the felts on both.
I can't remember the price of the felt/weatherstrip kit, I want to say it was around 50 or 60 bucks.
