uggh!! stupid people.
i don't know why i bother!
guy called yesterday afternoon, he had a flat tire, no spare, and asked if i could mount a new tire on the rim if he brought it over.
well it was not a flat, it was a blow out while driving down the road.....on a tire i told him to change 6 months ago because it was starting to show cords due to a bad tie rod end.
anyway, i got the old tire off, cleaned all the corrosion and bead sealer off the alloy rim, and mounted the tire.
something did not look rite with it, but i could not put my finger on it.
went to inflate it, and could not get 1/4 of the bead to fully set.
took it back off, and cleaned the inside of the rim, plus put a bead of grease to help the bead slide up to the seat.
still no good.
took tire back off and flipped it. but marked the sidewall with chalk where it would not sit, and flipped on rim. aired it back up and all good.
took the tire off the rim, and now it was not sitting rite on the inside of the rim.
put it on the car and went for a ride to see if rotating with weight while driving would set the bead like it usually does.... nope.
i asked him how old the tire was and he said new,... my sister bought it new 6 years ago when she got the car and it has been sitting in my garage since then.
DOH!!! the damn tire has been sitting on an angle leaning against the wall in the garage for 6 years, and caused a giant flat spot in the sidewall ruining the tire, so i threw a half worn tire i had from the girl across the street on it and told him to get out.
3 hours to change a tire, and all he offered a thanks for wasting my time.
i gotta stop being such a nice guy.

i had one come in years ago for front end alignment. had no rotors on the front. just the calipers with a block of wood holding the pistons from falling out.
i refused to let the car off of the lift and the guy said he was going to call the police.
i told him don't bother, i will call them for you.
the police showed up. i showed one cop the front of the car while the guy was talking to his partner.
i then let the car down and told him to get off my property and never come back.
1/4 mile down the road another cop was sitting with a tow truck. they pulled him over and impounded the car and wrote him a stack of tickets for unsafe vehicle, creating a traffic hazard, reckless endangerment, and a few others.
ya just can't fix stoopid.
