oil pan for 400 ford heidts front end

I am looking for a oil pan that will fit the 400 with the two sumps. Springfield Mo area. I have decided to put the IFS in the 55 and to keep the 400 and not use the 302.

Are you looking for the 4x4 rear sump pan ? I don't recall a factory pan with 2 sumps ?

I think you will need to have one made. I looked briefly for pans and it said the pans were good for 351C/m and 400, so if that's true, you might be able to get a lower profile pan intended for a 351C, or a dry sump system--hey, what's a few thousand bucks?

351M/400's use the same oil pans as 351C's.

This is the type that I am hoping that was also made for the 351m and 400 as I stated in the original post . I am going to install the IFS in the 55 F-100 I have a 302 but would need to rebuild it and the a o d but since the 400 is in the truck now I want to use it plus I like what I read on the motor in this forum . I might have to buy one of the $300.00 pans but am hoping not. I have a couple months until I need it as the person that is going to do the work is booked until then. Any and all help is appreciated .
Thankss

You could probably get away with the 351M/400 rear sump pan they used in 4x4's. Here are a few pics I found of the 4X4 pan.

4x4 pan won't work well with the rack and potion cross member, you'll need something with more taken out of the middle.
Pricy but I like the Canton pan I purchased to use my engine with wastang II suspension.

Destroked I have decided that I will have to use an aftermarket pan like the Canton now the next question is. Did you have to make the pick up tube to extend to the rear or can we purchase this ? Would the rear pick up tube work that the other motors (ford) use if that is the case I can get one no problem.
Thanks Art

The companies that make these pans (Canton, Milodon, ect) also make the proper pickup tube for that pan, you'll also need the proper dip stick as a front sump dip stick won't work with a rear sump oil pan.
In my case I purchased the pan, pickup and dip stick from the same company.

Got all the parts together and motor is at the shop. One problem I see is that on the moroso pan the drain plug (rear ) is on the rear and looks to be like it will be to close to the flex plate. Has anyone had this problem and is it a problem ? I looked at the canton pan and it is the same way I would think that if they keep making them like this that it is ok. What has anyone done that has used these pans ? As always any knowledge is appreciated .
Thanks Art

All those aftermarket rear sump pans are made to butt right up against the bellhousing making it impossible to get at the t.c. nuts. Of course they never mention that in their description.

Not sure on the Milodon but the oil plug on the Canton is on the left side in the back, also the sump is 9" deep, that should put the plug need or below the bell housing.
Measure 9" down from the pan rail and see where it is on the bell housing.
Also the back of the pan is in front of the lip seal so the sump isn't completely against the bell housing.
