thoughts? 196? truck

So... we're knee-deep in finishing up a '70 F250 and a '71 Chevy C10...

but, there's a nearby truck that's been intriguing us. We finally caught the owner and he's said $800. We went back to grab a couple pics, but it's hard to see the grill, too far away. I know it's something 61 - 66, but not sure which year.
All we know is unibody, 4-speed transmission, and parts for 4-wheel drive sitting in the bed. The guy thinks the engine is a 429 from a Mercury. ( If a Unibody, I guess that narrows it down to 61-63)

thoughts? Concerns? Can you tell the year? Above info is all we know.

'61-'63 were unibodies. A tailgate alone in good condition can be worth more than their asking price.
IMO this would be the one I'd be kicking myself for years if I passed it up.

Well, I better not tell you any more! You're local! hahaha!

Hopefully it stays there until we can afford to get it. Maybe tax-day will help.

Don't laugh, you should've seen me squinting at the screen looking for any clues I could find.

All I can see from the grill is 61 or 62. If Ford is between the signals it is a 61. If above the grill in the filler panel it is a 62.

That's the first 3/4 ton Uni I've ever seen before.

3/4 ton? How can you tell? number of bolts?

I wouldn't trust that's an original axle. Apparently there's axle parts in the bed of the truck - so, one would have to wonder.

hmmm. I didn't think there were any 3/4 ton Unibodies. Ford didn't even trust them enough to add 4 wheel drive.

I could be wrong, but it leads me to suspect it's not actually a Unibody, or both axles were switched out.

Definitely a unibody. Most likely an F250

.
Unibodies were body on chassis. They were plenty strong as were subsequent years and non unibodies of the same year. The term unibody only references the fact that the bed is part of the cab and is not separate.

They made 26,167 F250 Unibody pickups between 1961, 62 and 63.

1961 - 10,008
1962 - 10,703
1963 - 5,456

The grille appears to be a 62.

I thought all the unibodies had the big back window. Not true?
