I could have a great deal to say about some of the comments that have been made here, but I don't think it would be particularly helpful at this time to do so. For now, let me just say that as much as I have enjoyed my past association, I will not continue posting to a forum that has an active thread featuring girls in suggestive poses.

Jim, I don't mean to call you out, but you having a problem with these pics is rediculous. If anything I find your talk about the "Park Ladies" at the truck stock way more offensive than any of these pics.
Just saying

Sorry to be late to the party. Got up and out early this morning and am just now getting my FTE fix.

I actually posted on the other thread but tend to agree with the majority. Trucks trucks with girls (aside from family & friends)

SIDE NOTE: The federal government somewhere in the late 80s early 90s began a movement to Ban PinUps. So our local Union rep tried to say they were family members & friends. Good try but they still were all taken down and banned. I think the Govenment did it under “sexual harassment”

Now that we have the same filth as the HAMB being regularly posted here, maybe we need some nasty, condescending, know-it-all posts like the Ford Barn. Then we could go from the best vintage Ford site on the web to the worst in less than a week. Just sayin.

The government always does goofy things. Army Air Corps bombers had pin up nose art. Some of it was pretty raunchy. Later banned. I mean, it's OK to drop flaming gasoline on people from the air, but we wouldn't want to be obscene.

Anybody got a link to the offending thread?

I don't think what was posted is "filth" (with the possible exception of the "hands-bra" pic), it's simply not appropriate to this crowd. Are there other threads you think have trash in them? I haven't seen any, but I don't read them all.

BTW Ryan shut down the snarky, condescending stuff on Ford Barn about a year about, so far it has held. I think he did similar on the HAMB, but I really don't go there often. Where are the mods here? Not a peep... could have been nipped in the bud.

When the B-29 Super Fortress was introduced by the AAF in the PTO, it was ineffective. Bombs were being dropped at 20,000.'

General Curtis LeMay was transferred from the ETO, changed the tactics.

Japan's cities were mostly made of wood, it was a firestorm waiting to happen. LeMay had the B-29's fly at 5,000' dropping napalm bombs. One third of Tokyo burned in the first mass air raid!

When WWII began (December 7,1941), it was the Army Air Corps, the name was soon changed to the Army Air Force.

btw: LeMay was George Wallace's running mate in the 1968 election.

Yes and no. I was recently snarked in a thread over there. Yes, Ryan did delete the snark-after I flagged it. There is still too much of it over there for my taste, so I rarely go there.

Has anyone who doesn't care for the thread flagged it?

Ok, I haven't been on the thread since the first post with the "hands bra pic", so maybe it has tamed down. I don't have an issue with promotional photos with a pretty woman that is modestly dressed and tastefully posed. The post a few days ago, on the oddball thread, with the young woman standing in the convertible with the monkey face grill was tastefully done. I also don't have a problem with family photos with your trucks. But, a thread dedicated to "girls with trucks pics" only invites scantily clad, suggestively posed photos that we don't need here. A couple of threads here have had photos that I found offensive, a couple of pics from a Chicago Christmas parade, a female firefighter posing in front of a restored firetruck and, a few suggestive photos on the vintage photos thread. I have just learned that there are a couple posters that I avoid, even if I would like to see their trucks. But, like I said, A "Girls with trucks picture thread" only invites the filth that some sites are noted for. I may be clean now, but it won't stay that way. Suggestive photos can open a door for a young person to get into something more hardcore. That is not what we are about here.

Our 48 to 56 forum has been very family friendly with no to very little snarkiness or flaming each other.

How are the other forums on FTE? I rarely visit the other forums.

The most objectionable picture in the Girls and Trucks thread has been taken down by someone, and I appreciate that. Several have mentioned that if I find a particular thread that bothers me, that it is my choice wether or not I open it. This is of course true, but it is also true that we often refer to ourselves as "family" on this forum. In a sense, by participating, I have joined this "family" and I become associated with what is posted here.

I often tell family and friends that I am active on this forum and enjoy it. I mention how caring and helpful the people are and how DIFFERENT it is from other forums. Would I want my children, grandchildren, or friends someday checking up on where I enjoy spending time only to find a picture of a girl trying to cover her naked breasts with her hands? No I wouldn't!

As mentioned, I do appreciate that the most objectionable picture has been taken down and some of the recent additions to the Girls and Trucks thread are in better taste, but I continue to feel that our little corner of the internet doesn't need such a thread, and I am hopeful that it will go away.

Guess I must have missed the pictures that some found objectionable. I've always been of the belief that if you would show your mother or daughter it must not be too bad. Given all the uproar about the thread being discussed, I decided to "run it by my family". My visiting 25 YO granddaughter and my wife who is a bit older were exposed to the thread as it stood about 8 pm last night. Both of these ladies are educated and have been exposed to the real world. Neither of them found fault with the thread or pictures as it stood.
I played moderator on a fledgling antique farm equipment site a few years back. The site relied on moderators to keep it clean and we did. I suspect a flag to our moderators would result in anything questionable to be dispatched from this site quickly.. If I discover an item that I found to be no appropriate for this site I would flag it and expect it would be deleted. Flag is the red triangle icon at the top right of each post entry.
For the record, I am opposed to any form of pornography on here or anywhere for that matter.
