460 V8 Fuel issues
1983 Ford Econoline 1 ton E350
Mileage 55K
Equipped with 460 V8/Holley 4 barrel carb with dual fuel tanks/electric fuel pumps

The problem started when I heard a buzz from the rear tank.I eventually replaced both fuel
pumps.After that the vehicle would stall and sometimes quit altogether.I took it to a service
provider and he said the floats were sticking and that another carb would solve the issue.I
purchased a refurbished 4160 model carb part# 0-80457SA Carb from Holley.The vehicle sat for nearly
3 months and this establishment made no attempt to install or work on my vehicle.I had the van towed
to another repair shop...Their exact words "We could have changed the carb 100 times and it would not have
solved your problem....the problem as explained to me is a leak around/from the intake manifold gasket
as well as low fuel pressure from both tanks (2PSI)..After the intake manifold gasket
was replaced (I had the 4160 installed as well)they now claim that there is an issue with the intake manifold itself....
I was told I had 2 options,replace the intake manifold OR have the current on milled/repaired at a machine shop...
After the mechanic conferred with the machine shop he was told replacing the intake manifold was NOT the best approach....having
the existing one milled would be ...The fee/labor so far is approx 2K.I am
starting to have my doubts if this is worth pursuing any further....Any input/comments would be
appreciated to those who might have seen or experienced a problem similar to this with the
460V8...TY...VSR
