Anyone else with a 2019 having their power tailgate open uncommanded? I thought they fixed this problem in 2017 but mine has done it twice now. I have had my keys in my pocket both times and I was entering or exiting the truck so I'm not ruling out the possibility of accidentally pressing the button twice.
I don't have that option but I have found that the buttons can be pushed with the key in your pocket...not guaranteeing that is what is happening, but I have set off the panic alarm.
A&P, I had the same thing happen and was wondering if it was a fault, but I now believe I did it. Last night I bent down to pick up a piece of trash and set off the panic alarm. I wish Ford would have recessed the buttons some.
...maybe a mechanical engineering student can make this a credit project, 3D print (after designing it) a replacement clam-shell half with a 'wall' around the button...sell them in the MARKETPLACE for a nominal fee...or we have to start wearing fob holsters !
Not tailgate related but I'm pretty sure I saw where you could change the operation of the panic button in forscan to a double tap or something of that nature that would make it less prone to being set off in your pocket. Might be the cheapest alternative and something to consider.

I know I said in my response earlier that I was accidentally pressing the button, but now I know that was wrong. I've had my tailgate open a few times, so Saturday I carried it in my hand out to the truck and placed in the console. I started the truck and as I placed it into reverse (as I watched the screen) the tailgate released and dropped down! So now I'm sure it is a problem and will be taking it in. This also happened when I pulled into McDonalds and I had my guns and ammo in the bed! I guess it triggered when I placed it in park.

That is quiet disturbing. The power tailgate is nice but I think I'd rather do it the old fashioned way if it means risk losing my cargo.
I have a 17 and it has done it twice. I rigged up a piece of rope connected from the tailgate to the inside of the bed so when it accidentally falls it will not go down all the way. There have been guys pulling trailers and or campers that have torn stuff up when the tail gate comes down un commanded.
