I used to pull it with a stock 2001 f250 7.3, now pulling it with a 2018 f250 6.2 with 3.73s. The 6.2 pulls it just as good or better than the 7.3 did. Just burns a little more fuel
Thank you! I was looking at the 22GN. I actually liked the way the ramps folded over - making it more like a Flat Bed. But, as you say, with the ramps up, it may contribute to holding the round bales in place.

Thanks for the pictures. Funny thing - I had just been looking at the web site of the Big Tex dealer about 100 miles away. I discovered what Mega Ramps are - that is the ticket! The one I was looking at on their site was actually 28' + 5 (Mega Ramps).

Thanks for the info!

I'd build some sides that will drop in to the stake pockets and allows you to cradle your bales. Set your bales end to end on the trailer. Then a second row will fit nice and easy. Throw a strap over the top on each row and make it a truck load.

This is what I haul with, wanted a 22+5 on 18K lb axles with 17.5 singles but ran across a super deal on this 20+5 20k lb dually.
To haul 20 4x4 bales you need a 30 footer or you could haul 17 on a 25 footer.
Some places I go I barely can turn my 25 ft'er into, 30 ft would be a no go.

Thanks! It's actually a F-450, we did a 07 coil spring front conversion and the Super 60 axle stuck the tires out past the fenders.
Since the donor F-550 was also white we swapped fenders with the flairs rather than drill holes in the good original fenders.
We also swapped in a set of F-350 5600lb coils for a softer ride that also lowered the front a couple inches.

My bad. I thought the emblem was a 550. That is what threw me off. Nonetheless, nice ride!

Dual tandem deck overs are the best option. They are also plenty capable enough to tote the equipment. Between the two we run, I prefer the build quality and ruggedness of the Gatormade trailer over the Big Tex. The Tex is 30+5 and the Gator is 25+5. Tex is hard to get in some places.

Nice hay shed!
I like my 20+5 dual tandem for the areas I go but would love to have a 22+5 with 17.5 singles.
14 4x5 rolls is a nice load for the hills and hollows in my area, if I farmed on flatter ground I'd what something in the 30-32 ft size for a extra 3 rolls per load.

Thought I’d share a hay hauling pic. 42’ inline bale trailer with 11 4x6 bales on the ‘96 F250 7.3L

I bet that balances pretty well and trails nice down the road.

It does balance nicely when fully loaded. The length can be prohibitive in some places, but being narrower and lots of clearance means you can take them places you could never get a flatbed gooseneck. They’re so much easier to load and unload, and you never have to strap it down, so it goes so much faster. For the conditions we’re usually hauling in, going 15 miles one way, I can easily make 3 trips with this hauling 11 at a time vs. 2 trips with a flatbed (ours hauls 14 max). And not needing a tractor to unload makes all the difference sometimes, too.
