I had to replace both batteries on my 2013 f350 and now the wrench icon is lit up on dash. I called my dealer and they told me I will have to bring it in and they will have to scan it to clear code and charge 1 hour labor. I can go to systems and it says 1 warning but I can not clear it. Tell me this is not true, please!
Buy your own scan tool and you can do it yourself this time and anytime thereafter. Buying the scan tool will cost less than the charge from the dealer and you'll have the tool forever. Your other option is to go to a place like Autozone and they will scan it for free and then clear it if you ask. Write down the code they get just in case something other than the battery change was the issue.
I've disconnected my battery before (to reboot Sync) and upon connecting it the wrench light came on. Took it for a spin, shut it off, started it again and the light was out. Not sure what year your truck is but there are a number of smaller wires on the 11 - 16's that connect to the battery connectors. I would also check them to be sure they are not corroded and making a good connection.
I have an Innova Canobd2 scanner Innova.com, pretty inexpensive and it will clear codes. I think most will. Problem is, unless you fix what is causing the light, it will come back.
