Is there a ford 4 speed automatic with overdrive that will bolt up to my 351m/400 (77 f150 4x4)? I realize that there will be time spent on the mill and with the torch to make up new mounts. If there is such an animal, will my 205 transfer case bolt up to it. This is a daily driver and would like to get a little better mileage out of her.
The AOD comes to mind.No computer needed. Dirt simple to rebuild. Has to be 4WD versions out there. First came out in 1980. After some years it was computerized and known as the AODE.
I'll get flamed for this, but consider the GM 700R4. Low first gear, .70 OD. easy to find and build. I considered it for mine, and still am, the adapter plate is the only thing making me reconsider at $700.
Then go with a Ford E4OD and a stand alone controller.
I looked at a E4OD, looks quite a bit wider than the C6. Fitting up into the truck I don't think will be a problem. Just wondering if the front driveshaft will clear it with the NP205 transfer case.
Do you want to spend a bunch of time butchering your truck? Ever want to restore it to stock? Would you like to do the job yourself in 4 hours? If any of these sound good get the gear vendor OD for your Truck. Search my name and you can read about my install. It’s FLAWLESS!

Ya, sorry. I don’t know how to do that. I went to the thread and just don’t see what to click. I’m a little thick. The thread is titled “ just ordered up a new gear vendor overdrive “. Hth
Really starting to lean towards the GV unit. It's pretty expensive but I not only get to keep my C6, it becomes a 6 speed. One question though, the transfer case is manual shift (obviously) does the GV overdrive have some kind of sensor with it that will shut it off when shifted into 4wd? I'd hate to be running different ratios to the front and back just because I forgot to turn off the OD.
